Just like air travel, train travel is at its peak during the holidays so planning ahead is crucial. If you choose a day trip to a nearby metropolis for a change of pace with some shopping, museums or zoos you can simply get a same day roundtrip ticket. Or if your budge allows, stay a night or two.
