 | Are you the kind of person who,
when you're out in the yard, looks at those other families, imagine
what their lives are like and think "Certainly THEIR life is better
than mine. Their kids are easier to raise/spouse works harder...The
grass Is
always greener on the other side"? |
 |
For parents
who work, summertime is often just one more hassle to try and
schedule enough activities to keep their children occupied until you
can sneak out of work and enjoy a little sun together. |
 |
One the other hand, those
staying home with children who seem to be envied, in reality after the first week of
summer break, often desperate to find something else to do besides running the
kids to this friend's house and that park or pool. They quickly begin
counting the days until their kids go back to school as well. |
 |
Consider that
each of you (that means parents too) could use unstructured, no
cost, inactive, family time. But here's the catch...keep it as low
key as you possibly can. It's gotten down right difficult for many
of us these days to just be OK with doing relatively NOTHING in
fresh air with no obvious goal. |
 |
Not only is
this kind of unstructured time good for the soul but it's vital that
kids know their parents are entitled to zone out and so are they.
It's important for everyone in a family to make time to allow
everyone to just be who they are. What an incredible gift! |
