3 Devils: Save Your Money

    Explain Ratings

Movie Rating Scale

3 Angels Highly Recommend. Great life lessons.
2 Angels Recommend. Good quality with fine emotional /moral lessons.
1 Angel Just OK to watch. Won't hurt them but pretty mindless waste of time.
1 Devil May be just OK to watch but what kind of messages are your children learning from this information?
2 Devils  Inappropriate in many ways. Hold your finger close to the fast-forward button and get ready to edit some scenes.
3 Devils  Save your money!! You'll never get THOSE 90+ minutes back to use in life. Seriously consider writing a protest letter demanding better quality content from that studio.

Our criteria for reviewing movies and videos:

bullet

Overall quality of storyline-do kids learn something valuable?

bulletAmount and character of aggression or violence
bulletAge appropriate language
bulletNegative gender, race, or other stereotypes

Remember: Discuss the movie with them afterward! It is important to watch the show with them, at least the first time. This should not be considered a luxury option unless you are absolutely positive that you completely and wholeheartedly approve of all of the content contained in the viewing experience! Regardless, it is crucial that you at least talk with them about what they thought about what they just saw. What did they like the most? What about that did they enjoy? Was there anything they didn't like? What was it about that part that had them feel that way? The discussion can be as important or often more valuable experience than the movie itself! Do not loose the opportunity to teach your values, clarify their uncertainties or explain what they saw. This helps them develop their own reasoning skills. This returns control to your own household, teaches what your family values and reduces the power that media has to influence your children. And after all, isn't this what we want for our children?
